Biggin Hill, 22nd February, 2014

My third visit to Biggin Hill of the year took place on a fine, but cold, Saturday.

I arrived at lunchtime, and went to the JETS area to see if anything of interest was around. Alongside N239AX that was around on my last visit, the only other aircraft was Challenger M-ACHO

After logging these two and a couple of light aircraft that were around, I went to the Flying Club car park, and settled in for a few hours. It is always a bit nerve wracking at Biggin, wondering if any biz jets are going to turn up, but I didn't have long to wait before G-SONE arrived

As the Citation landed, the highlight of my visit was getting ready for take off. I'm not a great helicopter fan, so didn't pay much attention to the rather garbled r/t that was coming through from one that was getting ready to take off. 

However, as it climbed in to the air, I realised that this was something very unusual indeed. I knew several Wessex helicopters were stored at Biggin, but I didn't realise that any were airworthy. 

9G-AEL took off past me, flew a circuit of the airfield and after landing, returned to her hanger. 

I realised that would be the highlight of my visit, but hung around to see if anything else of interest turned up. The good weather meant that the light aircraft that live at the airport were busy, and there were a few corporate aircraft of note. The best was CN-IAM
