East Midlands, 3rd June, 2021

After leaving Mildenhall, I drove up to East Midlands and my hotel for the night.

The next day, I arrived at the airport just after the Kalitta 747 arrived from Germany, but I was able to get a photo as it left for Los Angeles a couple of hours later:

It was a long until the Cargologic Jumbo arrived from Cincinnati - when I first became interested in aircraft in the early 80s, East Midlands was my local airport, and would have been almost impossible to imagine that one day there would be more 747s visiting the airport on a Thursday than Heathrow!  

As the evening wore on, the airport became busier as the cargo flights became more frequent. The Polar 767 from JFK was a particular highlight:

Several West Atlantic 737s (and ATPs!) visited, but the -800 had a particularly smart livery:

I left at 2140 after a marathon session just shy of 12 hours. Roadworks on both the M1 and M25 meant that it took me over four hours to get home, but it had been an interesting if - for most of the time - quiet day.
