After three hours in Bahrain, I boarded Gulf Air A320NEO A9C-TD for the one hour flight to Dubai.
Entry formalities were completed quickly, and I was soon out of the airport on the metro en route to my hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn. It only took 15 minutes or so, followed by another 10 minute walk from the metro stop to the hotel.
On arrival - a couple of hours early - the receptionist explained that the room I had specified wasn't yet available, but he understood what I was looking for, and suggested that room 502 would meet my needs. We went up to have a look, and when I confirmed that I was happy with the view of airport, he left, and said that my luggage would be delivered a few minutes later.
Once my luggage had arrived, I arranged the table and chair to give me a good view of departures, and settled in. Spicejet 737 VT-SFG was the first aircraft I saw, and the Indian narrowbodies became regular highlights. it was also good to see the American freighters, especially my first UPS 747-8s. Othert highlights included the Iran Airtours A300 and the Kam Air A340 from Kabul which bought my spotting to an end when it got dark at 1910. I then retired to bed, absolutely knackered with over 24 hours of no real sleep!
